Amazon controls FBA – Odoo reflects the reality
When Amazon manages storage, shipping, and returns, Odoo must fully replicate the resulting inventory movements, invoices, credits, and tax processes.
Amazon leads the process – Odoo must accurately reflect it
In traditional ERP processes, Odoo defines inventory movements and documents. In Fulfillment by Amazon, the direction is partially reversed: Amazon distributes goods to fulfillment centers, ships orders, processes returns, and delivers the associated events back through reports.
The task of the Odoo Amazon FBA Extension therefore involves more than just order import. It translates the processes defined by Amazon into understandable inventory movements and commercial documents in Odoo. This becomes particularly relevant when multiple marketplace countries, Pan-EU storage, and different billing models come together.

Which FBA events need to arrive in Odoo
FBA and FBM orders
Orders are imported into Odoo. Customer, product, variant, and payment information form the basis for order and document chain.
Products for mapping
Amazon product data is read in as needed for mapping to existing Odoo products and variants.
FBA inventory and goods movements
Report data from Amazon is used to represent inventory as well as movements between Amazon warehouses and countries in Odoo.
Returns and credits
FBA returns processed by Amazon are assigned to the original transactions. This creates the necessary reverse movements and credits in Odoo.
Invoices and VCS Invoice Upload
Depending on the Amazon invoicing model, invoice information is adopted or invoices generated in Odoo are uploaded to Amazon.
Pan-EU and tax transactions
Cross-border sales, OSS-relevant transactions, and national transfers must be represented in the correct country based on Amazon data.
Pan-EU: Goods movement and tax logic go together
Amazon moves goods across borders
In the Pan-EU program, Amazon can independently distribute inventory to fulfillment centers in multiple countries. Odoo does not trigger this movement but must track it as an actual inventory movement based on Amazon reports.
- Assign inventory by Amazon warehouse and country
- Recreate inbound and cross-border transfers
- Reintegrate returns into inventory logic
OSS is only part of the tax consideration
In addition to cross-border B2C sales, national transfers can occur when Amazon relocates goods between countries. Therefore, sales country, warehouse country, goods movement, and documents must be considered together.
- Differentiate OSS-relevant sales
- Map national transfers separately
- Correctly assign marketplace country and debtor account
Debtor accounts by Amazon marketplace country
A mapping that is missing in the standard
For each Amazon marketplace country, a separate debtor account can be set up. Imported orders thus flow into the appropriate accounting structure in Odoo.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Amazon FBA Extension for Odoo
Why is FBA more complex in ERP than FBM?
With FBM, the seller manages inventory and shipping themselves. With FBA, Amazon carries out these processes. Odoo must then correctly adopt the externally generated inventory movements, returns, and documents.
What must Odoo represent for Amazon Pan-EU?
In addition to sales, inventory and transfers between Amazon warehouses in different countries are relevant. This can lead to both OSS-relevant transactions and national transfers.
What does VCS Invoice Upload mean?
If the seller creates the invoice themselves, the invoice generated in Odoo can be submitted to Amazon. In another VCS model, Amazon provides the invoice; then it must be assigned to the Odoo transaction.
How are FBA returns processed in Odoo?
The return reported via reports is linked to the order and product. This results in the relevant inventory movement and the associated credit note.
Can accounting be separated by marketplace country?
Yes. A separate debtor account can be configured for each Amazon marketplace country.
Are Amazon products published from Odoo?
The extension imports product data for mapping and assignment. The product listing from Odoo is not the focus of these FBA processes.
