Retain the sales history during the system change

Lakefields switched from plentymarkets to Odoo. In addition to customer and product data, already processed sales orders should be transferred. This historical information was needed for marketing and sales evaluations in Odoo.

View customers, products, and orders together

A sales order refers to a customer and the products in its order lines. Therefore, the associated customer and product data were also imported and assigned for a usable order history. The transfer considered the orders together with this master data.

Import historical orders without new deliveries

The special requirement: Completed orders should be transferred as historical sales to Odoo. Their import should not trigger any new delivery orders or inventory reservations. For this, an import option for confirmed and blocked orders was added, which does not go through the usual operational confirmation process again.

Automate the bulk import

For the documented period from January 1, 2022, to May 31, 2024, the import was prepared and executed via a cron job. The processing in multiple retrieval pages supported the transfer of larger order volumes. An additional option considered older product data during the order import. Development, configuration, import, and documentation were part of the implementation.

Evaluate historical sales in Odoo

The transferred order history is available for further evaluation with the associated customer and product references. The project demonstrates an important requirement in ERP migrations: Past sales must be retained as history without triggering the current inventory and shipping process again.
